Bandung Geological Museum

Upon Diponegoro Street, lies a building that stood to become a testament to the world's history. Within, there are relics of the distant past, of creatures who once reigned the world long before humanity, and of the world on which they ruled. All were presented for the public to see and be amazed at, only for a pocket change, a price counted as one of the cheapest.

Bandung Geological Musem, built on 16th May 1928, was a historic building in itself. It was declared as protected under the government and as a national heritage. Yet, the doors to this treasury of knowledge are open for all people, both locals and foreigners, young and olds, students and families visiting for recreational purposes.

After entering its front door, visitors who entered the Orientation Room are to be greeted by the geographical map of Indonesia within the form of a big screen that tells of geological and museum activities via animation. The room also contains informational support services and study and research support services.

Aside from providing information, each of the cubicles within this room showcase a variety of stone types and other kinds of interesting things.

The East Wing pictures the history of growth and development of life that lived on Earth, from primitive to modern. The panels that covered the room's wall share the information of the Earth's condition from 4.5 billion years ago and how it affected lifeforms. It is also in this room that the replicated fossil of a famous dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus rex, was shown along with other the other replicas of various lifeforms' fossils.

While the West Room on the second floor was used by the staff of the museum, the other two rooms are still open to the public.
