Endless Horizon

A child stood still in front of a burnt house. Tears falling down his scarred cheeks and his eyes dyed red. The sun, as if to mock down on him, was soaring up high in the sky and radiated the accursed feeling of heat.

Slowly, he looked up to the sun. A resolute will apparent in his eyes. He shifted his gaze down, towards where he could reach the proud sun before its rise, the horizon which lies at the end of his vision.

Seeing it, the boy reminisced the past. With him sitting on the lap of his mom, he had asked,

"Mom, what is that far away line?"

His mom thought about what he referred to for a moment and then pointed her index finger while answering,

"That is the horizon, the place which lies at the end of our sight. The limit of our perception."

"Then, we cannot see anything farther than that?"

His mom chuckled and replied, "No, son. Nothing can hold you back, your limit is endless!"

The boy was picked up by his mom and lifted up as high as she could. Their laughter echoed through the trees on their back and the grave which lied in the backyard of their home.

The boy reopened his eyes. He clenched his fists and started running downwards from the hill. His will was set, he is to run on and reach the limit, and he will do it until he arrived there.

He kept on running, resting for a few moments when he ran out of breath and resumed after. The particles that floated in the air of the ashen trees went into his lungs, but his sight didn't even turn back.

His was fixed on something far far away from his position.

His was fixed on The Horizon.

—all of that was conveyed from the painting painted by the masterful stroke of the brush of a renowned artist, Almond Roe.

As he was done with his last stroke, he looked back to his son and smiled.

The scarred face making the smile was deemed to be frightful by his friends, but to the little boy, his father is the most awing. His father was the wisest and most knowledgeable within his eyes, the only place reserved for him to ask all his questions.

Roe opened his mouth and answered the question that he had asked a long time ago,

"That is the horizon, the limit of our perception."

After pausing for a bit, he continued,

"However, as you move onward, your perception changes, wherever will your next step be. And as you move, your limit will keep on expanding. Son, Your Horizon is Endless."

Have you ever feel like the burst of inspiration you had when you first started doing a thing started to reach its limit? If so, then do not give up. All of us had felt the same. No matter how bad it is to take, it is true that our body is limited and no one is perfect. Only by sharing and linking with others can we receive something new, something outside of our own range that could stimulate a new wave of inspiration. For that, we invite you to the Endless Horizon.

What is Endless Horizon?

Endless Horizon is an event in which artists, writers, and other creative minds are invited to participate. As the name implies, this event's goal is to gather people to express their creativity and broaden their horizons (perception) and ultimately inspire them. A new insight that we hope this event will provide would be able to make the people who received them reach a new height.

When, where, and how long will it be held?

Date: 21 March 2020
Place: SMAN 3 Bandung, Jl. Belitung No.8, Merdeka, Kec. Sumur Bandung, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40113.
Time: 6 A.M. to 7 P.M.
